How To Prepare Your Motorcycle For The Track

Use track-rated or high performance tyres. Set hot/cold pressures correctly and check wear.
Tyres

Pads with plenty of life, fresh fluid, firm lever feel. Inspect discs for scoring/warping.
Brakes

Fresh oil, correct coolant, and absolutely no leaks.
Fluids

Most track days require taping or removing mirrors and lights to prevent glass scatter.
Tapes Lights / Remove Mirrors

Properly adjusted, cleanen and lubricated. check for tight spots or hooked teeth.
Chain & Sprockets

No luggage, cameras or accessories that aren't securely mounted.
Remove Loose Items

Top up fuel, free-moving throttle, smooth clutch action, and properly torqued controls.
Fuel & Controls

Quickshifter, rearsets, performance tyres, upgraded suspension, or track bodywork.

Types Of Track Riding

Closed Circuit Practise
Private sessions for serious racers or teams to test setups and bike modifications.

Time Attack & Racing
Competitive events requiring ACU licenses, full safety prep, and race tech inspections.

Training Courses With Professionals
Learn cornering, braking, and body position from expert instructors. Great for improving safety and speed.

Track Days (Non-Competitive)
Open sessions for all skill levels, run in groups (novice, intermediate, advanced). no racing just fast laps.
Set Yourself Up Like A Pro

Racing Tyres (Slicks Or Track Rubber)
Maximum grip, stability and lean angle performance
Purpose-built for race tracks - offering superior grip when hot.
Common choices:
-
Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP
-
Michelin Power Cup 2
-
Dunlop GP Racer
Slick tyres (no tread) require tyre warmers and are used in full race setups, they heat up quickly, are optimised for dry conditions and fast cornering.

ECU Remapping / Race Tuners
Build one-off parts for unique or modified bikes
Remap the engine’s control unit to suit racing needs (fuel mix, throttle response, limiter removal)
Often done via dyno tuning for precise power curve mapping.
Common tools:
-
Woolich Racing ECU Tuning Kit
-
Dynojet Power Commander V
-
Rapid Bike EVO
Improves acceleration, top-end power, and mid-range torque - essential for lap time improvement.

Race Leathers & Safety Gear
Full protection in high-speed crashes
One or two-piece race suits are mandatory in most track or race events.
Include knee sliders, aerodynamic humps, and impact-rated armour
Popular kit:
-
Alpinestars GP Tech
-
Dainese Misano / Laguna Seca suits
-
RST Race Dept V4.1
-
Optional but increasingly common:
-
Airbag race suits for high-speed crash protection
-
Race boots with ankle bracing and toe sliders
-
Track-rated gloves with carbon fibre reinforcement
